New Site Software

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

I’ve switched Synaesthete.com to new software, so please bear with me as I iron out the kinks!

A single login gives you access to the entire site. You shouldn’t have to register separately for the forums.

If you previously registered at Synaesthete.com, your old username and password should work. If your login doesn’t work, and you’re sure your username and password are correct, try logging in through the form at the bottom of the forums page. If all else fails, use the lost password function, and a new password will be mailed to you.

All forum posts have been saved - this should include any private messages you’ve sent or received.

Your existing preferences should have been saved, but it’s a good idea to check and make sure. Once you’ve logged in, visit your profile and check that your preferences are set the way you want them.

I’ve set up a temporary forum for reporting errors and problems. This is a public forum, so you don’t need to be logged in to post. Please use this forum as opposed to sending email. Thanks!

Latest on the site re-build

Another long weekend gone, and I still don’t have things the way I want them. Spammers continue to plague the guestbook, so I’ve temporarily disabled it until I can find a fix. I really hate to do this, but I hate giving spammers even one second’s worth of linking even more. Yeah, it’s a bit neurotic. Please accept me as I am.

I want news articles to appear at the top of the page. I’m going to have to edit some templates before that happens. (And I thought a CMS was supposed to make things easier. Silly me!)

Anyway - overall, the site is working, and you shouldn’t (*crossing fingers*) encounter any problems. I will only have a few hours a week to spend getting things all fixed up, so please bear with me as I whip this puppy into shape. (Notice: No actual puppies will be whipped or otherwise harmed in the upgrading of this website.)

Reconstruction almost complete!

When it became clear that the recent server move had broken a lot of stuff here at Synaesthete, I decided to go ahead and reinstall things from the ground up, rather than try to fix them one by one. I think I’ve managed to get things pretty much back in working order.
